Who We Are:
Beyond Bruck is a small business, run by Kiwi/Scottish husband and wife team, Brendon and Tracey.
In December 2025, we recognised that there was a part we could play in helping reduce plastic waste and pollution in New Zealand – by using it to create unique crafts.
In the beginning, many hours were spent researching plastics, understanding what was safe to work with to protect our health, how could plastics be melted, moulded and reused and if this was something that was viable to test from our garage at home.
Research moved into testing and with thanks to family, friends and colleagues, we began collecting high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic – or plastic recycling number 2 - if you are familiar with recycling codes. This plastic is commonly used for milk bottles, milk bottle tops and shampoo and conditioner containers.
Once enough plastic had been gathered, we went through a long process of cleaning and cutting the plastic so that it was small enough to melt in our heat press. After many trials (and possibly even more errors!) we found our rhythm and have been able to produce the products that you see online today!
Our Name:
Bruck is not a word that most New Zealander’s will be familiar with. The word is commonly used in Tracey’s native home, the Orkney Islands, where the Orcadian dialect is spoken.
Bruck simply means rubbish.
Our name Beyond Bruck symbolises that items usually considered rubbish can be much more.
Our Products
All of our products are made using recycled plastic. Because of the melting and creating process, each of our products is unique – we cannot create exact duplicates or patterns.
We have a limited number of products available and as we continue to try new ideas and styles, new products will be announced and shared on our website and social media channels.
